Why Ductless?
There are several advantages to choosing Ductless Mini-Split system heat pumps or air conditioners:
- Design Flexibility
Traditional heat pumps and central air conditioning systems force cooled and heated air through ducts, ductless systems deliver air directly into different zones. They are comprised of a small outdoor unit and one or more indoor units that require nothing more than mounting capabilities and access to electricity. Ductless cooling and heating offers home and business owners a cost-effective way to replace inefficient window units, space heaters and electric baseboard heaters. They can be installed in home additions, new construction, condominiums and apartments. Hook-up between the outdoor and indoor units generally requires only a three-inch hole through a wall for the conduit - Zoned Control
- Another of the advantages is the ability to zone temperatures. Larger systems can support up to four separate air handlers and each has its own thermostat. If you’re not using a room, you can turn the air handler off to save energy, much the same way a zoning system for central HVAC equipment works.
- Save Money
One of the biggest reasons why homeowners switch to ductless cooling and heating is cost savings. If you currently have electric resistance heat or a window air conditioner you could reduce your electric heating or cooling bill by 25-50%. In addition to saving money on utilities, you may also be eligible for tax credits or utility rebates .
- Quicker to Install
Installing a forced air system with ducts into an existing home can take several weeks and usually disrupts daily activities in the home. Ductless systems are far less invasive to install, and can be up and running in a much shorter time.
There’s more to mini-split services than just hooking up new equipment in your home. At McDowell, we take a detailed and dedicated approach to every job we do, from taking size and load calculations before installing a new system to keeping existing systems safe and efficient with service plans designed to meet your needs and budget.
